Director of Human Rights Proceedings v Cameron Slater

Simon is acting for the Director Human Rights Proceedings in a claim against Whaleoil blogger Cameron Slater for breach of the Privacy Act.  The primary issue is whether Mr Slater was acting as news media and engaged in news activities when he uploaded personal information about the aggrieved individual.  The proceeding was part heard by the Human Rights Review Tribunal on 28 October 2014 with further submissions delivered on 2 February 2015.  A reserved decision will be delivered by the Tribunal in due course.
