Simon has developed a specialty in public law and has brought applications for judicial review against the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, local authorities, various tribunals, the District Court and school principals and Boards of Trustees.

    Simon acts for the Director of Human Rights Proceedings in claims before the Human Rights Review Tribunal and the High Court and Court of Appeal. The claims are under the Privacy Act or for discrimination under the Human Rights Act.

    Simon gives advice to Youth Law on cases and also assists with Youth Law’s law reform efforts. Simon has been a member of the Law Reform Committee of the New Zealand Law Society and makes his own submissions to the Government on various matters. He has been involved in academic discussions on the future of the New Zealand constitution.
